A meeting room overflows with NGN Board
members, NGN Community Advisory Board
members and other North Georgia Network
partners and supporters. Regional
collaboration has been a hallmark of this
project since its’ beginning.
Ron Baysden of Impulse Manufacturing
introduced Vice President Joe Biden (r),
whose December 2009 press conference at
the Dawson County facility included the
announcement that NGN had been awarded
the inaugural BTOP grant to build fiber
optics in rural North Georgia.
North Georgia Network partners and stakeholders
gather around then-Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue,
who holds a mock check for $2.5 million to represent
the grant award from OneGeorgia Authority that will be
used to purchase network equipment.
Board members and others from the NGN
family gathered at NGNs main office location
at Habersham EMC in Clarkesville in late
2011 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Holding
on to the ribbon were board members (L-R)
Rick Wood, Todd Pealock, Bruce Abraham,
Erik Brinke, Matthew Akins and Don Trice.
NGN also has office space at Blue Ridge
Mountain EMC in Young Harris and on the
campus of North Georgia College & State
University in Dahlonega.
